Chinese fans vote: Can China beat Korea at this year's League of Legends world championship?

The rivalry between China and Korea that has existed for decades in physical sports has long since boiled over into eSports, and as the Season 4 World Championships for League of Legends inch ever-closer, Chinese fans ponder an important question: can a Chinese team finally beat a Korean team and bring home the title this year?

On the one hand, some of the top Chinese teams now have Korean talent on their side. Korean players and coaches have flooded into the LPL this split, and the community has even started to embrace some of them. But will that be enough to bring down the Korean juggernauts? According to Chinese fans, yes.

In a poll on Netease games, users were asked whether Chinese teams would finally be able to take down the Koreans at Worlds this year. As of this writing, more than 14,000 fans have voted, and they’re pretty optimistic. Just over 75% of them think this is the year China gets revenge, while 24% feel the Korean teams are still too strong.

Personally, while I’m a fan of some of the Chinese teams after years of living in China myself, I can’t say I share the fans’ optimism. But you never know! OMG managed to give SKT one close game at All-Star 2014, and with their lineup strengthened and other Chinese teams like EDG making a case for being China’s best, anything could happen.
