Intel Capital Invests in 5 Asian Tech Companies

Intel_Capital

Intel Capital has announced an investment of $40 million in 10 technology companies. The list of companies includes the popular Box.com cloud storage/sharing service, but there are also five companies from Asia as well.

You may already be familiar with Korean social game developer LIFO Interactive, as this is the company who was behind the Olympic Games City Facebook game which you may have seen making the rounds earlier this summer.

Two Chinese companies caught Intel Capital’s eye as well. Mobile advertising platform UUCun has offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hefei and is said to be expanding its services to include mobile payment and mobile gaming. Transmension is the second Chinese company, which is a TV-focused gaming service provider [1]. Indian digital entertainment company Hungama and Taiwanese circuit design company FocalTech were the other Asian companies in which Intel Capital invested.

The news was announced during Intel Capital’s Global Summit 2012 in California. Arvind Sodhani, the president of Intel Capital explained:

Our annual Global Summit and the ongoing Intel Capital Technology Days provide our portfolio companies with unmatched access to the decision-making executives critical to revenue-generating sales or partnerships. The 10 new investments in innovative companies announced today stand to benefit greatly from these longstanding company-building resources.

You can read about all 10 companies over on the Intel Capital website.
