The rapid development of Internet-based communication in Indonesia is now enlivened by the presence of the first Indonesia’s Internet television, IniTV. IniTV claims to be the first Internet TV in Indonesia and hopes to inspire Indonesians with its series of programs.
Initiated by a team of five from PT. Inspirasi Global Indonesia, IniTV was officially launched live on April 24, 2011 through an Indonesian TV channel. IniTV focuses on inspirational local contents, like Inspiring Mom, Entrepreneur Info, Motivate Yourself, and Cooking Show With Celebrity.
Mr. Iwan Kurniawan, CEO of IniTV, told us that, “IniTV wants to develop local content in Indonesia, so it could inspire the people to build the world’s next creative industry in this country.”
IniTV also brings in local celebrities and famous figures who would share their experience and tips with the audience. One of famous figures is Chantal Della Concetta, a well known ex-news anchor in Indonesia. She is also the Deputy CEO of IniTV and also the brand ambassador for IniTV. Together with several health experts, Chantal told us that she has plans to organize a health talk show for IniTV’s audience in the near future..
IniTV is also a mobile friendly Internet TV “station.” It can be viewed on most tablets and mobile phones, including Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry. IniTV’s program, however, can’t be played on the iPad and iPhone due to Flash incompatibility issues. At least for now, IniTV has gotten most of the smartphone users in Indonesia covered, especially the BlackBerry users. The growth of smartphones and tablet computers in Indonesia gives IniTV the opportunity to ride the mobile wave. Leading the Internet TV front, IniTV could inspire similar services to come on board.
