Hi there,

As the government eases Covid-19 restrictions in Singapore, things almost seem back to normal. Not having to wear masks outdoors or check in for contact tracing every time I enter a mall are small but significant improvements – they feel nice.

It’s tempting to move ahead with our lives and forget all the troubles and lessons from the pandemic. But we also shouldn’t be complacent, especially now that cases of the highly contagious monkeypox have been reported even in countries where the virus isn’t usually found.

Given these issues, having a strong healthcare system and the tools to empower it are more important than ever. Investors seem to know this too, if the amount of money they’ve poured into Southeast Asia’s health startups are any indication. Which are the sector’s top 20 investors? Let’s find out.

Today, we look at:
* 20 investors with the most number of deals with health startups in Southeast Asia
* A US$1.7 million raise for an Indian autonomous-vehicle maker
* Other newsy highlights such as GoTo Group’s potential US$2.4 billion private placement plan and GoTrade’s partnership with global payments firm Wise

Healthy coffers

People older than me often tell me to take care of my health. I guess I can still be considered “young,” but even then I’m starting to feel a lot less spry than I was four years ago. Perhaps it’s time to consider some of the solutions that these investors are bankrolling.
  • Grab these: Antler, a global startup generator and early-stage VC, is No. 1, landing six deals in the last 24 months. In this time frame, they’ve injected capital into Adon, Test At Home, Zealth-AI, Ora Group, and Fig Health.
  • Healthtech hub: The top three spots go to organizations based in Singapore. Seeds Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore, sits in second place, closing six deals in the last two years. Meanwhile, Insignia Ventures Partners is in third place signing five deals during the same period.

  • Popular kid: Zenyum, a consumer-focused brand that provides 3D-printed invisible braces and cosmetic dental treatment, is a startup that has attracted investment from many of the organizations on our list. In total, four firms – Seeds Capital, Sequoia Capital, TNB Aura, and Partech – have pumped money into Zenyum.

More like “Plus US$1.7 million”

Tesla gets all the headlines for pushing autonomous vehicles, but other companies such as Minus Zero are doing their part as well. The India-based maker of self-driving vehicles recently raised US$1.7 million in a seed funding round led by Chiratae Ventures.
