South East Asia Major 2014 is now an official qualifier for Arc Revolution 2014 fighting game tournament in Japan

It’s official, and officially awesome—this year’s top two players of Blazblue: Chronophantasma (BBCP) at the South East Asia Major 2014 (SEAM 2014) will get to duke it out with the best Japanese players in the official Arc Revolution 2014 tournament taking place in Tokyo, Japan from August 30-31.

This is the first time that a foreign qualifying spot for the Arc Revolution 2014 has been given to any tournament worldwide.

Arc System Works will also be present during SEAM 2014; they will be setting up a booth to sell merchandise and to meet and greet fans of their games.

The South East Asia Major 2014 is a large-scale tournament taking place at the Alienware Arena in Lucky Chinatown, Singapore from June 20 to 22. This is its fourth year in existence. The following competitive games will be played at the major this year: Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, The King Of Fighters XIII, Blazblue Chronophantasma, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Hearthstone.

And just for comparison’s sake, the Arc Revolution 2014 tournament is an even larger scale Japanese tournament featuring all three of developer Arc System Works’ biggest fighting games: BBCP, Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, and Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-.

The SEAM 2014 champion for Ultra Street Fighter IV will also be earning a qualifying spot in the Capcom Cup finals, so it’s safe to say that the strongest Southeast Asian players will literally be going places after the dust has settled at SEAM 2014.

This whole qualifying spot situation is pretty much the dream for all foreign Blazblue fans, both to be recognized as a fanbase by Arc System Works and to have a chance to rub (and bruise) shoulders with the Japanese players that they look up to and fear all at once. The hype for this tournament has gone up two hundred percent, and we’re bound to see some even more exciting matches now that so much is on the line!
