Airwallex names new chief revenue officer
Global fintech platform Airwallex has named senior executive Kai Wu as chief revenue officer and general manager for Asia Pacific.
Wu will hold the position from Singapore, marking the firm’s first C-level hire based in the city-state.

In his new role, Wu will be responsible for the alignment of all revenue-related functions, including marketing, sales, customer success, and revenue operations. He will also head the expansion of Airwallex’s businesses across Asia Pacific.
Wu’s last position is the CFO and CEO for Greater China at Airwallex. Before joining the firm in 2018, Wu was a project leader at the Boston Consulting Group.

Founded in 2015 by Jack Zhang and Max Li, Airwallex’s platform helps businesses worldwide manage online payments, treasury, and payouts. It has a presence in more than 19 countries.
In October, it raised US$100 million in series E2 funding from Square Peg, Sequoia Capital China, and Tencent, among others. The money was raised at a US$5.5 billion valuation, which remained unchanged when it closed a US$100 million round in November last year.
In total, the startup has raised US$900 million since its establishment.
