  • The investment from SBI, India’s largest lender, comes as both the companies look to develop digital payment products in the country.
  • Founded in 2015, Cashfree processes online payments for thousands of Indian businesses. The startup, which graduated from US-based accelerator Y Combinator in 2017, claims to process over transactions worth US$20 billion annually.
  • Cashfree’s platform enables over 100,000 businesses to accept and disburse payments online. In addition to India, Cashfree has a presence in eight other countries including Canada, the US, and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Incubated by payments pioneer PayPal, Cashfree is backed by Apis Partners, Smilegate, and Y Combinator. The platform is used by businesses such as Zomato, Cred, Nykaa, Delhivery, Acko, and Shell, among others.
