- Why AI may finally be rewriting the next chapter of ecommerce
Hello reader,
I recently met a kirana or mom and pop store owner in Bengaluru who shared a telling snapshot of how technology is reshaping his business.
On one hand, B2B ecommerce platforms have made his life easier. He now receives inventory the same day he places an order. But on the other hand, he pointed to a shelf full of unsold breakfast items.
“Everyone’s switching to quick commerce,” he revealed.
It’s ironic, but it points to a very real tension. One type of tech is helping kiranas thrive, but another is making it harder for them to survive.
Making things more complicated, certain tech verticals can go in and out of fashion. Like B2B ecommerce, whose comeback in India I dive into in today’s first Top Story.
After nearly two years of stagnation, shutdowns, and valuation cuts, the sector is showing new signs of life. Not only are there fresh fundraises, but there’s also a rising trend of M&A activity.
I explore why deal flow is returning, how players are adapting their models, and what it means for the future of India’s vast retail backbone.
In our second Top Story, our contributor Darren Boey looks into how AI is transforming marketing – but not always in the way the hype suggests. How should founders and marketers adapt?
