India-based startup powers up with $2.2m to build social, casual games

India-based HighXP has raised US$2.2 million in its seed funding round led by 3one4 Capital.

The gaming studio was founded in 2021 by industry veterans Shankara Seethappa and Raghu Sankar, who have been involved in the creation of 20 games at well-known developers such as Zynga, Microsoft, and Big Viking Games.

HighXP focuses on social, casual games, which are relatively simple, targeted toward a mass audience, and available on mobile platforms.

The overall spending on mobile games, taking into account the roughly 1.95 billion casual gamers worldwide, is predicted to reach US$117 billion by 2026.

Its first game is a free mobile app called Doodle Me, which involves users drawing and guessing each other’s illustrations – similar to Pictionary.

HighXP will use the fresh funding not only to grow its game but also to expand its team across functions and build up its offerings.
