In brief: Indian storytelling app raises $15m series B funding

  • Pratilipi, an app for writers, has just raised US$15 million in a series B round to expand its network in India, bringing its total funding to about US$21 million, TechCrunch reports.
  • Qiming Venture Partners led the round, which also saw participation from existing investors Nexus Venture Partners, Omidyar Network India, Shunwei Capital, Contrarian Vriddhi Fund, and WEH Ventures.
  • A significant portion of the capital will go into engineering to improve story recommendations on the platform, Pratilipi CEO Ranjeet Pratap Singh said.
  • The app claims to have more than 100,000 active writers and over 5.2 million monthly active readers.
