Indian micro VC iSeed secures $15m as part of second fund

“Micro-venture capital fund iSeed on Thursday said that it has closed US$15 million as part of its second fund, iSeed II, in a bid to ramp up its investments in the Indian startup ecosystem,” Livemint reported.

Details:

  • Nearly 60 limited partners joined the fund, including Rippling co-founder Prasanna Sankar, ex-Stripe executive Lachy Groom, and Teachable founder and CEO Ankur Nagpal.
  • However, it wasn’t specified if this was the first or final close of iSeed II. The fund aims to invest in 50 startups with ticket sizes of US$100,000 to US$250,000 during seed stages. It may also invest further in its portfolio firms.

Context:

  • To date, iSeed has invested in close to 36 startups from its first fund, which was anchored by AngelList founder Naval Ravikant.
  • Its first fund has invested in Pepper Content, FloBiz, BimaPe, and PagarBook, among others.
