“Amazon.com and Walmart’s Flipkart must face antitrust investigations ordered against them in India, the country’s Supreme Court ruled on Monday, in a blow to the leading ecommerce giants which had urged judges to quash the inquiries,” Reuters reported.

- India’s top court said that it expects firms like Amazon and Flipkart to “voluntarily” participate in the antitrust investigation.
- The companies sought to stop an investigation ordered by the Competition Commission of India into allegations that practices such as offering deep discounts, exclusively launching mobile phones, and promoting select sellers on their websites are aimed at driving out rivals.
