In brief: Indian fintech startup OkCredit raises $15.5m series A
- OkCredit, a cloud-based digital application provider for micro-merchants, raised US$15.5 million in one of the largest Series A funding rounds for an Indian startup, The Economic Times reports.
- New York-based investment fund Tiger Global led the round with an estimated US$10 million, with Morningside Venture Capital, Lightspeed India Partners, Venture Highway, and Y Combinator participating.
- OkCredit, co-founded by IIT Kanpur graduates Harsh Pokharna, Gaurav Kumar, and Aditya Prasad, has raised more than US$17 million in total.
- Merchants can use OkCredit’s app to track buyers’ purchases and when payments are due. The company plans to expand its merchant base and create teams across verticals such as products, technology, and digital banking.
