IndiaMART.com, India’s largest online B2B marketplace announced yesterday that its 4,000+ employees across 75 locations in India will now be using Google Apps for Business as their primary messaging and collaboration suite.
For all those who might not know it, Google Apps for Business is a web-based suite of messaging and collaboration applications, that include Gmail, Google Calendar, and integrated IM, as well as Google Sites and Google Docs, Google’s word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and website creation tool.
Dinesh Agarwal, CEO at IndiaMART.com, said, “At IndiaMART.com, we have always been proactive in adopting new technologies for seamless business operations. It is this outlook that prompted us to utilise Google Apps, which promises better infrastructure and management than what is ordinarily possible with on-premise solutions, while serving millions of users simultaneously.”
Using Google Apps will allow IndiaMART employees a common email platform, and in Google Docs it will have a real-time, collaborative work space.
Responding to IndiaMART.com’s move to join the Google App family, Pradeep Agarwal, Country Head, Google Enterprise in India, said IndiaMART.com “served as a great example of how organisations are able to use cloud based messaging and collaboration tools to connect their employees, customers and business partners in various offices and cities for enhanced productivity and better decision making.”
As far as we can see, Google Apps could help companies save quite a bit of resources. We last wrote on HSR, a Singapore-based real estate agency which saved “some half a million dollars annually” after making a switch over to Google Apps.
