Indonesia Announces Country’s Largest ICT Center

Indonesia has recently announced the country’s largest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Center at 2.5 hectares (25 000 square meters), about five times the size of a football field.

Located at Jababeka Industrial Estate in Bekasi, the ICT Center was introduced today by the Minister of Communications and Informatics, Tifatul Sembiring. It was also attended by South Korean ambassador, Mr. Kim Young-sun, as it was built with aid from the South Korean government valued at $8.9 million.

The center is intended to provide training and development in information and communication technology and its dormitory can accomodate 300 trainees at a time. When I contacted the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, a spokesperson explained that the South Korean government will also provide lectures for courses such as object programming, information security, computer networking, animation, web programming, IT management, operation system, etc.

Minister Tifatul Sembiring told Detik that “The ICT Center is very important, and we expect that this place can be used by all parties to improve our ICT human resources capability.”
