Meet the 11 startups picked for Conquest’s mentoring program

Conquest provides one-on-one mentorship with experts

BITS Pilani, one of India’s top tech universities’ Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL), organised mentorship program Conquest in Mumbai this week. The program, which aims to mentor 50 startups from second- and third-tier cities in India, provides mentorship on fundraising, revenue model refining, customer acquisition, hiring and grooming talent, up-scaling, marketing, and technology.

The organisers received 1,500 registrations. According to Conquest marketing manager Devanshi Kotak, the teams were assessed on their idea and business plan. Conquest has organised similar mentorship programs in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

Meet the startups that made it to the Mumbai leg:

Llynkr: Llynkr is a communication tool for preschools and parents. The startup’s ERP system ensures that parents get alerts on leaves in school and events such as fancy dress days.

Janta Choupal: Janta Choupal is an app that connects users with their elected representative to improve social governance of the area. The startup aims to connect people with not just a local representative but also corporators, chief ministers, members of parliament, and members of legislative assembly. It also helps elected representatives have a common platform to interact with their actual voters.

Frapp: Frapp is a deals and discounts app for verified students, who constitute a large chunk of India’s population and are the customers of the future for brands. According to the company, brands face a lot of problems in finding initial engagement with youngsters.

Shop Elect: Shop Elect is an ecommerce site for industrial products that converts the traditional business of electrical distribution into a professionally-managed, technology-driven ecommerce organization.

Interview Mocha: It is a pre-employment skill testing solution provider for multiple profiles. The combinations of questions are made after conducting market research for the job profile in question.

Art and Found: Art and Found is an online platform for artists to showcase, share, and sell their work. The artists’ community in India is disorganised and underpaid. Most of them don’t have a means to make their art accessible to art buyers.

Tech Innovance: Tech Innovance is a home automation company that allows you to remotely control your programmable thermostat, lights, security systems, garage doors, sprinklers, TVs, home audio systems, DVRs, and kitchen appliances from anywhere in the world.

Hero: Hero is an aggregator of all online marketplaces. It brings the point of sale to consumers through its app and also Whatsapp and FaceBook messenger.

Wockito: Wockito is an app for users to exchange contact details.

Helmatron: It manufactures smart helmets for tracking bikes, curbing vehicle thefts, and drunk driving. The helmet analyses the alcohol content in the driver’s breath and directs the vehicle through a wireless signal to start or stop accordingly. The encryption technology used in the helmet will greatly help in reducing bike thefts.
