Flipkart to lead US$100 million round in fresh-produce startup

Flipkart’s reported investment in Ninjacart will be one of the largest by an ecommerce major in an e-grocery startup in India.

Flipkart’s shareholder, Walmart, has also expressed interest in backing Ninjacart in the latest funding round.

After the deal, Ninjacart’s valuation may be pushed to between US$500 million and US$800 million.

Home services marketplace Urban Company hits US$2.8 billion valuation

The surge in Urban Company’s valuation comes after the company completed its largest employee stock option plan (ESOP) sale, which was worth US$7.3 million.

According to the firm, employees’ shares were purchased by existing institutional investors.

Previously, Urban Company organized an ESOP sale in June 2017, December 2018, and August 2020. It also plans to go public in 2023.

Edtech firm upGrad eyes IPO in 2023

UpGrad will reportedly raise up to US$350 million in funding prior to its listing, potentially boosting its valuation to US$3.5 billion.
