Indonesia Instant Noodle Becomes a Rap Song on YouTube

@J2Ocean and Indomie

Ever heard of Indomie? It is a famous instant noodle made in Indonesia. Rapper Jesse J2O put up a music video on YouTube about Indomie and has become quickly popular among Indonesians on Youtube and Twitter.

This video was uploaded on May 8 and is fast approaching 100,000 views. In the video Jesse J20 features various Indomie flavors/packets while he raps about them. Even though this is an Indonesian product, the Indomie rap video was produced in a typically American style. It is an awkward – but interesting – mashup between two cultures that has caught the eyes of many Indonesians.

Jesse J20 has received numerous comments so far from the Indomie fans on YouTube and Twitter, although Indofood, the manufacturer of Indomie, has not given any comment on the video. Jesse J20 has not yet replied to our tweet asking if he was paid to rap for Indomie.

As someone mentioned on Twitter, Indomie should endorse J2O as its official rapper, insofar as an instant noodle brand needs an official rapper. Perhaps, he could be a hit just like Norman Kamaru, the viral Bollywood dancing cop or even Isaiah Mustafa of Old Spice. Catch the video and let us know your thoughts.
