US event tech firm Eventbrite rolls out localized portal in Singapore
Singaporeans are willing to spend their money on “live experiences” and events, according to a report from market research firm Roy Morgan. The study was commissioned by Eventbrite, a global ticketing and event platform headquartered in San Francisco.
In the city-state, such experiences “are deeply woven into the cultural fabric, from its arts festivals to its food scene,” says Phil Silverstone, general manager of Eventbrite Asia Pacific.
Capitalizing on this emerging segment, Eventbrite has launched its first localized platform in Singapore. The portal will offer curated local content, as well as native checkout and payment processing in Singapore dollars.
Eventbrite claims that its global platform has supported over 90,000 events with more than 4.9 million tickets transacted in Singapore since its inception in 2006.
“We’ve seen a strong 40 percent year-on-year growth for events hosted in Singapore on our platform,” Silverstone shares with Tech in Asia. “Being present in the country will now allow us to learn more about the needs of event creators in the market and develop products based on these needs.”
