Iflix CEO Mark Britt steps down

Marc Barnett, iFlix’s managing director, will assume the role of CEO.

“I shared an announcement internally with the company over the past few weeks, that after 5.5 years of commuting between Asia and Sydney, it is time for me to step back from CEO and spend more time with my family,” Britt wrote on LinkedIn.

In the internal note seen by ContentAsia, Britt said he would “continue full-time in the business and have a long-term contract. But instead of taking responsibility for the whole thing, I will work on a defined set of priorities.”

Britt will focus on advertising for all markets and supporting the Indonesia team, according to the report. He said Indonesia is iFlix’s biggest and fastest-growing market.

The company also saw other leadership changes this year. Awin Roslin, iFlix’s former head of marketing in Malaysia, left for a new opportunity. Iflix also named Kevin Zhong Liu as chief technology officer and Mark Francis as chief content officer.

Founded in 2014, the Malaysia-based company focuses on providing digital entertainment services across Southeast Asia. It is currently available to consumers in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Brunei, the Maldives, Pakistan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

In July, iFlix secured over US$50 million in a funding round led by global asset manager Fidelity International ahead of a potential initial public offering.
