Wonderful enters Singapore to help scale enterprise AI

Wonderful, an Amsterdam-based startup that helps enterprises build agentic AI, is expanding into Singapore, the company announced on Monday.

Alexander Kleinberg, Wonderful’s new general manager for Singapore, said the company is focused on moving enterprises from AI pilots to full-scale deployments.

He pointed out that many organizations in Southeast Asia have launched AI pilots, but scaling them remains difficult because of fragmented systems, complex integration requirements, and evolving governance considerations.

“The companies that do well in terms of expanding their products, people, and operations to this part of the world generally do not take a one-size-fits-all strategy,” Kleinberg told Tech in Asia. “They are committed to understanding individual markets and tailoring their approach to those markets.”

While he did not reveal how many clients Wonderful’s Singapore office currently serves, he said that the company expects to have “dozens” of clients within months.

Kleinberg has held senior roles across the Asia-Pacific region at Google, Facebook (now Meta), and Twitter (now X). He also previously sat on the board of GovTech Singapore.

Localization play

Wonderful positions itself as a model-agnostic “orchestration layer” that sits on top of third-party frontier models like Anthropic. It provides end-to-end enterprise AI integration – an agentic OS – rather than narrow use cases.

The company aims to compete with a growing field of regional AI firms through deep localization and by embedding engineering teams with customers to integrate systems, build agents, and set up governance frameworks.

Kleinberg notes that Wonderful’s localization play also involves data sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and accountability catered to each market.

The company is using the same strategy for its teams. Kleinberg said Wonderful is on a hiring push for technical talent in Singapore, prioritizing citizens and permanent residents.

He added that this setup will serve as the foundation for the local-team model that the company plans to replicate across Asia Pacific. Each market will use the same model: a local general manager, a local CTO, and an on-the-ground team forward-deployed into client enterprises.

Wonderful previously announced that it will enter Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan. Kleinberg said that the company will announce additional Southeast Asian markets “within the next few weeks to months.”

The company has raised about US$284 million to date, according to Traxcn. In March, it closed a US$150 million series B round led by Insight Partners at a US$2 billion valuation.
