Go-Jek now lets some users pay for food deliveries on credit

Go-Jek is trialing a new feature that allows users to make on-demand food deliveries with its Go-Food service on credit and pay later.

Named PayLater, the feature was rolled out among a select group of Go-Jek users, Tech in Asia understands.

Users select PayLater as their chosen payment method when completing a Go-Food order. At a later date, they top up their Go-Pay wallet with enough funds to cover the orders they’ve made. The full amount has to be paid by the end of the calendar month. Partial repayments are not currently possible, according to a message that Go-Jek has sent to test users.

The service is free for the first month. After the that, users will have to pay a monthly fee of IDR 12,500 (US$0.84).

For users that fail to make repayments on time, Go-Jek said it “will keep on reminding [them] every day until [they] have successfully made a repayment” through push notifications and homepage cards.

It did not explain, however, what further action it might take to reclaim outstanding monies.

PayLater was developed in collaboration with Findaya, one of three Indonesian peer-to-peer lending startups that Go-Jek recently partnered with, according to an announcement last week from the ride-hailer.
