The startup has been appointed to operate a fleet of 600 out of 1,000 permitted scooters in the city, with the remaining to be operated by Lime.

The two companies were chosen among eight other global and local operators who participated in the tender process.

Neuron will also launch the first batch of its commercial-grade N3 scooters in Brisbane and Darwin under a 12-month trial program.

After it raised US$3.7 million in seed funding late last year, the company launched its services in Malaysia in January 2019 as part of its regional expansion plans.

Neuron also operates in Singapore, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai.
