400 spectators turned up for on-site action, while the live streams saw over 20,000 viewers. Deon Pek, speaking for Wargaming Asia, shared that it was “truly exciting” how so many national representatives came together at the Yongsan eSports Stadium over the weekend, and added:
Every moment of the Season 1 Grand Finals has been incredible, from the extreme gameplay strategy and tactics, to the chemistry of the three teams and the incomparable passion as shown by their supporters.
Jinkyu Ko of Wargaming Korea echoed his sentiments, saying that Wargaming honored the players’ passions, and promised to “always strive to make [the] WGL an event for both players and audiences to enjoy.”
WGL APAC Season 2 starts in August 2014, with the winners of WGL APAC Seasons 2 and 3 heading to the grand finals this year. From there, only one team will be chosen to represent Asia in a global tournament. Will that team be yours?
