BursaIde.com, The First Indonesian Crowdfunding Site

Ideas become reality when they meet the required resources for implementation. However, getting those resources is not at all an easy task. In this collaboration era, we now have an alternative solution: get the resources from the crowds out there. In Indonesia, we can do it on BursaIde.com.

BursaIde.com was founded from real problems that happened in Pesantren Wirausaha Daarul Muttaqin, an Islamic boarding school for entrepreneurship. Some brilliant ideas from about 350 students could not be executed because they lacked the resources. “We find that the ideas which are successfully implemented have something in common. They got resources”, said Muhaimin Iqbal, the founder of BursaIde.com who is also running GeraiDinar.com, an investment platform for Islamic gold, Dinar.

Developed earlier this year, BursaIde.com is now open for beta-testing. It offers two basic functions: idea submission and challenge invitation. User can choose either to submit an idea to gain support and funding from others or invite them to solve a challenge. It is like a mashup of Kickstarter.com and InnoCentive.com.

BursaIde.com is still undergoing a continuous development. “In the future, we want to make BursaIde.com as an idea management platform for everyone”, Muhaimin Iqbal told Penn Olson.

There are 3 other features that will be released later on BursaIde.com. The first is a discussion platform that involves all people who support the idea. This will facilitate the final decision of an idea – to implement or not. The second is a project management features. Using these features, people can monitor and manage all the details on “who are doing what and when” of the project. The last is a reporting and feedback system for the overall site. Development of BursaIde.com is handled by Achmad Zaky, the founder of Bukalapak.com, and his team.

Muhaimin Iqbal already has some plans to bring BursaIde.com to greater height. He has a community of well-informed investors from GeraiDinar.com who would be involved in funding the ideas on BursaIde.com. BursaIde.com also plans to collaborate with leading universities in Indonesia and embrace the best ideas from the students.
