Here are China's WCG finalists: can they take on the world next month?

Over the weekend, China held its regional finals for the World Cyber Games. Of course, the global finals don’t kick off until next month (coincidentally they’re also being held in China this year), but now we know who will represent China. Here are the winners and runners-up from this weekend for the official competitive games at WCG:

  • Starcraft 2: Champion: Cao Jinhun , 2nd place: Hu Xiang, 3rd place: Gong Xun
  • Warcraft 3: Champion: Huang Xiang , 2nd place: Ren Jingyang, 3rd place: Zhou Xixi
  • League of Legends: Champion: OMG , 2nd place: WE
  • NBA2K Online (individual): Champion: Zhou Yushi , 2nd place: Zhang Mingyuan, 3rd place: Wei Lei
  • NBA2K Online (team): Champion: Akira.Legend , 2nd place: Akira.chuanqi, 3rd place: Champion
  • World of Tanks: Champion: EP.qieshuijun , 2nd place: tu灬top15, 3rd place: JZBA.L
  • Crossfire: Champion: Han Gong QQ Members , 2nd place: Liaoning Qingcheng, 3rd place: EP
  • FIFA: Champion: Zhao Weiming , 2nd place: Cheng Nan, 3rd place: Yang Zheng

Additionally, this year’s WCG will feature two Chinese “promoted games”, the racer QQ Speed and FPS AgainstWar.

  • AgainstWar: Champion: Third Year Second Class , 2nd place: Zero Club, 3rd place: Jialan Web
  • QQ Speed (team): Champion: Insane Asylum , 2nd place: Boundary, 3rd place: Nisha
  • QQ Speed (women): Champion: Zhu Ling, 2nd place: Cheng Yuanyuan, 3rd place: Xu Yayi
  • QQ Speed (men): Champion: Li Xudong , 2nd place: Tian Feng, 3rd place: Lei Bao

Realistically, China’s best chance in the finals is probably League of Legends, although this hasn’t been a great year for China’s MOBA game teams. But Chinese players will likely clean up in the promotional games too, given that both are Chinese-developed and don’t have much of a player base outside China and the Chinese diaspora.
