The founders of Glints, a Singapore-based startup that helps youths get their dream jobs, have split up. Looi Qin En, the COO, has left. CEO Oswald Yeo and CTO Seah Ying Cong will stay on.
The move was announced in a blog post on the Glints website. “Creative friction” was cited as the reason for the change, though it did not go into details. “It’s mainly professional differences in terms of work styles and ideas,” Yeo told Tech in Asia.
The startup says the move was amicable and they remain friends. “In fact, we will be going to Bali together for a holiday end of this year,” the founders wrote.
The decision was made after discussions which lasted less than a day.
“Many companies cling on to team members for emotional reasons, longer than necessary, and this slows the company down. We’ve decided against doing that,” the company said.
Glints claims to have grown quarterly revenue by 60 percent in Q3. It makes money by helping clients engage and recruit talents.
Meanwhile, its user growth has doubled quarter-on-quarter. The startup declined to reveal specific numbers. According to SimilarWeb’s estimates, it reached 140,000 monthly visits for its Singapore site, and 75,000 visits for its Indonesia site.
Glints last raised a US$2 million series A round. The founders have all deferred university education to focus on the company. Looi told Tech in Asia he has not figured out his next steps.
