Carousell brings in former Razer exec as chief financial officer

Carousell, a Singapore-based classified ads platform, has appointed Edwin Chan as chief financial officer.

Experience:

• Chan previously served as chief financial officer at Razer for around seven years. Most recently, he served as the global gaming brand’s chief investment officer from early 2020 to early this year.
• He helped Razer through its journey from its series A fundraising to its IPO in 2017.

More details:

• Chan will be responsible for Carousell’s capital strategy, including corporate development, fundraising, and mergers and acquisitions. He also will take control of the company’s accounting, financial reporting, investor relations, and legal and compliance functions.
• With Chan’s 12-year experience with Razer, Carousell hopes that he can help accelerate the company’s growth via organic method and consolidation. He will directly report to Carousell Group’s chief executive Quek Siu Rui.
• In April, Carousell launched its car marketplace unit Carousell Auto Group. It will be the umbrella platform for Mudah Auto in Malaysia, Cho Tot Xe in Vietnam, and Carousell Auto in the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore, as well as transactional platforms OneShift and Revo Financial.
