In brief: Grab and Toyota deepen collaboration to make rides more efficient
Toyota Motor is offering its Total-care Service for 1,500 Toyota vehicles owned by Grab in Singapore through its subsidiary GrabRentals.
The Total-care Service was developed especially for ride-hailing firms. Working with companies like Grab, Toyota can leverage onboard telematics data through a shared information platform to provide services such as fleet management, automotive insurance, and vehicle maintenance packages to extend the life of ride-hailing vehicles, and enhance the driving experience for the end user.

Toyota and Grab will gradually expand the service to Grab’s Toyota vehicles in other Southeast Asian countries. Grab aims to have Toyota models make up a quarter of its total fleet across all markets by 2020.
Toyota is the lead investor in Grab’s ongoing US$3 billion series H funding round, with the Japanese carmaker injecting US$1 billion into the ride-hailing platform. It had previously made an undisclosed strategic investment in Grab.
