In brief: Grab partners with Singapore’s AsiaMalls on payments

Singapore’s AsiaMalls Management and Grab today signed a memorandum of understanding to establish GrabPay as the preferred payment service provider across the mall operator’s network of six shopping spaces beginning January 2019.

AsiaMalls and Grab will also explore opportunities to drive a more in-depth collaboration on both their loyalty programs – AMperkz and GrabRewards – to enhance synergy and bring more value to shoppers.

Shoppers at Century Square, Hougang Mall, Liang Court, Tampines 1, Tiong Bahru Plaza, and White Sands will be able to use GrabPay for cashless payments and will also enjoy privileges and rewards at the malls from Chinese New Year 2019.

Gary Wong, head of GrabPay in Singapore, said that his company’s mobile wallet is already accepted by more than 6,000 merchants across the city-state, and is used to make payments by 80 percent of local Grab users.

GrabPay was rolled out to hawker stalls and other cash-based merchants in Singapore in November last year.
