Ex-Grab exec joins Indonesian fintech firm Julo
Julo, an Indonesia-based online lending platform, has chosen a new president: Ankur Mehrotra, the former head of lending at Southeast Asian tech giant Grab, Bloomberg reported.
At Julo, Mehrotra will be responsible for overall strategy and corporate finance, including international expansion and fundraising, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Mehrotra had a six-year stint at Grab. When he was managing director of Grab Financial Group between November 2017 and June 2022, he established the super app’s lending business. After leaving the company, he briefly joined BukuWarung, a bookkeeping app based in Indonesia, as a consultant.
Julo raised US$80 million from Japanese financial firm Credit Saison in a funding round last April. Julo’s loan disbursement grew by 3x in 2021 compared to the previous year.
