Ride-hailing giant Grab today announced the launch of a co-branded credit card in the Philippines in partnership with financial services firm Citi.

Benefits of using the card include earning more Grab points per spend on the app, 3x more points from Citi on dining and entertainment purchases and online subscriptions, and 12 free Grab rides upon spending PHP10,000 (~US$200) within 60 days of getting the card.
Following the launch in the Philippines, the card will be introduced in Thailand in the second half of this year.
This expands an ongoing partnership between the Singapore-headquartered firm and the credit card provider.
In 2016, the duo tied up to allow customers to pay for Grab rides using their points from Citi credit cards. Citi also invested in the ride-hailing firm back in November 2018 through its venture capital arm Citi Ventures.
Previously, Grab collaborated with Mastercard, allowing its users to pay for online and offline services using a prepaid card.
Grab’s credit card launch is part of its efforts to scale its financial services in the Philippines.
In December 2018, the company signed a deal with SM Investments Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the country, to offer GrabPay as a payment method in mall stores.
