Evermos, an Indonesian social commerce firm focused on MSMEs, has announced that it is suing Reynaldi Gandawidjaja, founder and CEO of Orderfaz, who previously served as Evermos’ business strategy manager.
In its statement, Evermos said that there is “strong indication that Orderfaz competes directly with Evermos’ business,” particularly its Everpro Shipping and Everpro Funnel services. Both are part of its Everpro suite of services, which the company says has the same market segmentation as Gandawidjaja’s startup.
Evermos said that Orderfaz’s founding violates a two-year non-compete clause that was part of Gandawidjaja’s employment contract. He left Evermos in July 2023, and in the same month, Orderfaz announced that it had raised a pre-seed round.
Gandawidjaja’s co-founders, Mohamad Iqbal and Jessica Alvina, are also both Evermos alumni.
In the lawsuit, Evermos demands that Gandawidjaja does not run a business that competes with it or attempt to acquire its employees and customers for two years. The company is also calling for the Orderfaz founder to pay a fine totaling US$7.5 million.
Tech in Asia has reached out to Gandawidjaja for comment.
