Google Advertises on Facebook and Twitter [PICS]

googlemobileGoogle, the digital advertising behemoth, is contributing back to the industry by buying ad spots on Facebook and Twitter.

Yes, you heard that right. Search Engine Land posted a Twitter screenshot showing @GoogleMobile as a Promoted Account, suggesting users to follow. Promoted Account ads run by an algorithm, so not everyone would be able to see the same promoted account.

Penn Olson reader, @askaaronlee also informed us that Google is advertising its Chrome browser on Facebook. Apparently, Aaron is one of their targets and they got it right. He isn’t a Chrome user.

We know Google leverages Facebook business pages and multiple Twitter profiles to connect with fans but placing advertisements on social sites is certainly something new to us. Pretty cool.
