Gojek launches GoStore to help small businesses set up online shops

Indonesian unicorn Gojek announced the launch of GoStore, a solution that helps local micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) set up online stores easily.

According to a statement, GoStore allows small businesses in Indonesia to market their products on social media through the service’s Facebook Shops and Instagram Shopping integration. Owners can also link their shops to their social media accounts for easier account management and chat functionality.

GoStore is integrated with Gojek’s flagship solutions, giving it access to non-cash payments with GoPay, product delivery through GoSend, debit and credit card payments through Midtrans, and other payment tools through Moka, which Gojek acquired earlier this year.

The new service would complement Gojek’s existing solutions for online sellers. These include the Selly app, which allows merchants to interact with customers more quickly, and the Midtrans Payment Link, which adds support for various payment methods.

According to Gojek, GoStore is part of its Melaju Bersama Gojek initiative, which helps MSMEs find suitable Gojek solutions for their businesses. The platform was launched earlier this year, and the company claims that the service had around 500,000 merchants in its ecosystem.

Last month, Gojek said that it was set to go through a managerial reshuffle to double down on its e-wallet business as customers and merchants shift toward digital payments. This involves Andre Soelistyo, the company’s co-CEO, taking over Gojek’s payment arm GoPay.

Meanwhile, Soelistyo’s co-head chief Kevin Aluwi will run the startup’s other services, including those in transport, food, and logistics.
