Fans of the Tom Clancy series of games (or readers who saw our piece on Ubisoft Singapore) probably know about Ghost Recon Phantoms, the game previously known as Ghost Recon Online. The online tactical shooter has been in development at Ubisoft Singapore for quite some time, and now it’s finally going live. Ubisoft has announced that the game will launch worldwide on April 10.
Ghost Recon Phantoms will be available on Steam and also as a regular PC download, but don’t worry, you won’t have to fork over any of your hard-earned money because Phantoms is free-to-play.
And if you’ve played the Ghost Recon Online beta, don’t think that means you know Phantoms, because along with the new name come a lot of other changes including new character and art design and reworked lighting in most of the game’s levels. New gameplay elements have also been added, according the press release, although it’s not clear what they are or how much the gameplay has changed. Beta participants will still be able to play with their beta accounts, though, and they’ll be able to carry their progress over into the final game.

We’re hoping to take the final version of Phantoms for a spin sometime soon, so keep an eye on Games in Asia for more details about the game as its launch date approaches.
