These startups have received funding from Hax and Entrepreneur First

The Entrepeneur First (EF) engine is going at full steam. The global deep-tech investor unveiled another 22 startups that it has invested in. Seven of the startups hail from Hong Kong and the rest comes from Singapore. Each venture has received at least US$55,000 in seed funding. This is the fourth edition of EF’s Singapore program, which incubates startups for six months.

In addition, four of the 22 startups have joined an “EF+Hax” program in which they received an additional US$125,000. Contributing to the funding is Hax, an initiative by startup accelerator SOSV to back hardware entrepreneurs. The EF+Hax program likewise supports hardware companies.

Here are the four EF+Hax participants:

• Aims (Hong Kong) digitizes sports education for the youth through motion capture and artificial intelligence.
• Biopsin wants to transform microbial diagnostics by enabling real-time detection of pathogens.
• Neptune Robotics’ underwater drones and data solutions are designed to reduce fuel consumption and safeguard the voyage of every ship.
• Seppure creates a new generation of nanofilters for chemical separation and purification.

Other startups that got funding from EF include:

• AI Palette aims to allow users to quickly create successful product concepts.
• Caelus Technologies (Hong Kong) has patented data converter-chip solutions targeted for 5G and internet-of-things markets.
• Carnot Innovations (Hong Kong) focuses on life-cycle cost optimization by using AI-based analytics to predict and preempt mechanical equipment failures.
• Docle turns conversations into meaningful documents.
• Endovision (Hong Kong) is automating the endoscopic diagnosis of the digestive tract via AI-driven software.
• Gallenco delivers AI-imaging diagnostic solutions to automate laboratory tests.
• Interviewer.AI is an audiovisual interviewing platform that automates a company’s first round of interviews.
• Merkle Science provides a risk-monitoring platform to detect and prevent the illegal use of cryptocurrencies.
• Narus is a knowledge management system for lawyers.
• Neurum (Hong Kong) leverages digital data to understand and manage mental health.
• Notarum is an AI-driven automation solution for corporate due diligence.
• PinAlpha delivers in-depth fundamental analysis as fast as data is generated.
• Quod AI is an AI platform that explains source code in plain English.
• Radicali is building Mica, an intelligent compliance assistant for financial institutions everywhere.
• SixSense is an AI platform that uses manufacturing data to predict defects and variability in product quality.
• Staple builds cognitive automation that performs accounting faster, cheaper and more reliably than humans at unlimited scale.
• Synchronous generates production schedules for manufacturers using reinforcement learning.
• Volt14 (Hong Kong) develops battery materials that will enable lithium-ion batteries to double their energy storage capacity.
