We just received news from Germany-based gaming publisher, gamigo, that it has acquired a 20.1 percent stake in Korea-based game development firm, OnsOn Soft. The financial details of the investment hasn’t been disclosed.
OnsOn Soft has developed several games for gamigo, including the popular MMORPG Fiesta Online.
The deal will serve to strengthen the working relationship between both companies. Patrick Streppel, an executive board member at gamigo explained:
With this strategic investment we are securing the future of Fiesta Online in Europe and will be able to make other projects a reality with their team.
According to gamigo’s statistics, it has 8 million registered gamers both on its client and browser-based games and is adding a staggering 400,000 new gamers each month.
OnsOn Soft was founded in 2004 and has over 60 employees. Besides Germany, Fiesta Online is also served in other countries including Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Japan, USA, and the Philippines — which accounts for most of the ‘fanatical’ gaming countries that we can name.
Fiesta Online is the only active game so far from OnsOn Soft. Other games like Project A.E (another MMORPG) and Homerun (Basebase) are currently still under development.
