Games in Asia is growing up

Did you know that Games in Asia is already over a year old? We began last year by piggybacking on Tech in Asia, then moved to our own site—this domain—in September 2013. Since then, it has been a rollercoaster ride covering the games industry in Asia.

We’ve had a few direction changes and restructures. We’ve had arguments and disagreements over how things were meant to go (as in all startups!). But we’ve always been sure of why we originally started Games in Asia: we want to help Asia’s game industry grow.

And after a year of experimenting we’ve come to realize that covering the business of games in this region might just be the best way to do that.

We understand that it’s impossible to simply group every single country under the “Asia” banner. And we won’t try to. Rather, we’ll bring you news from the ground up, right from its sources in different countries.

Moving forward, Games in Asia will strive to be your go-to source for anything to do with the games industry in Asia. We’re in touch with indie developers and the big boys around the region, and we want to make sure you’re the first to know about them all. Eventually, as our team grows, we hope to also provide analysis and thought-pieces on current affairs.

But for now, we hope you’ll hang in there with us as we start to roll out this new direction for the site. We will still have game reviews, of course! But anyone can write a review, and not anyone can tell you how the industry works.

In 2015, we’ll be hosting our very first Games in Asia Conference (GiaCon) as well. That will be a culmination of everything we’ve been observing, recording, and reiterating for the industry. And we hope you’ll join us there.

In the meantime, you can just keep on reading Games in Asia, for everything you need to know about games in Asia.

P.S. We’re hiring!
