In Singapore, social media has slowly become a need for many businesses. A lot of us understand social media on a personal usage level, but not when using it for business purposes.
The “gap”, as described by Sharon Ng, lecturer and consultant at Institute of Systems Science (NUS) is what inspired her to launch a course on social media marketing. It is true that many self-proclaimed gurus in Singapore also offer social media marketing courses. But Ng’s course is Singapore’s first NICF accredited social media marketing course. Not only does it bring creditability to the program, it also means that the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) will fund 70% of the course fee for Singaporean & PR attendees.
“There is a distinct lack of convergence between the IT professionals and the Media/Marketing Professionals when it comes to leveraging social media, I call it the left & right brainer syndrome. How do we get business to go social? This is media convergence, which requires both the art and science of marketing in order to leverage the landscape of new media!” explained Ng.
The Institute of Systems Science (NUS) and NetProfitQuest, a homegrown business that became successful within a year through smart use of social media, will jointly conduct the three-day course. The first course starts today and ends at 6 April. It is priced at $770.40 after WDA’s funding. With word-of-mouth & viral marketing tactics, Ng said that the response from companies has been encouraging so far.
“This course is meant to help clients strategize and embark onto their respective social media marketing projects. We’re here to shed insights on converting conversations online into paying customers for your brand or product but more importantly to understand the know-how of leveraging new media for businesses,” said Ng when asked on how the course would help clients.
“The course will also educate clients on how to achieve their digital marketing ROI, convert analytics reports into viable business solutions that helps to justify their marketing efforts,” she added.
The course is targeted at professionals who work as brand managers, project managers or even as system administrators. If you’re interested, don’t hesistate to contact Sharon Ng (sharon.ng [at] nus.edu.sg) and Pang Zhi Han (pang_zhi_han [at] nus.edu.sg) for more information.
