Rising SE Asian startups this week: Jirnexu, Neuron, and more

Which are the startups that are on the path to becoming the next big thing? In this regular post, we give you an overview of the companies that have raised money in the past week, as well as those that we think investors should look at.

1. Jirnexu (Malaysia)

Kuala Lumpur-based Jirnexu operates comparison sites RinggitPlus in Malaysia and KreditGoGo in Indonesia, where users can weigh up different offers on credit cards, insurance plans, and loans. More info.

It has also developed tools to help financial services providers handle online applications, as well as customer acquisition and engagement. As a self-described “full stack fintech solutions provider,” it works with clients including CIMB, Citibank, HSBC, Manulife, Standard Chartered, and UOB, among others.

Amount raised: US$10 million as part of the series B round
Investors: Experian

2. Neuron (Singapore)

The startup – which said its “proprietary supply chain” gives it greater control over manufacturing and enables quicker scaling – is building a new scooter that “will set a new standard for enhanced robustness and rider safety” and is compliant with standards set by UL, a US safety certification organization. More info.

Amount raised: US$3.66 million in a seed round
Investors: Led by Singaporean venture capital firm SeedPlus

3. Kumu (Philippines)

Kumu brings Filipino communities together. They are a global group of creatives, technologists, entrepreneurs, and diehard fans of a Filipino culture bursting with creativity and potential. More info.

Amount raised: US$1.2 million in a seed round
Investors: Led by Summit Media

4. Propseller (Singapore)

Propseller helps property sellers and landlords find and compare brokers or agents. It claims to be the “first and only independent player that collects and verifies ratings, as well as analyzes historical transaction data of agents from any agency in Singapore.” More info.

Amount raised: US$730,000 seed round
Investors: Singapore-based startup founders Erwan Mace of Muslim Pro and Yang Bin Kwok of Zopim

5. Orori (Indonesia)

Orori is an online jewelry e-commerce platform in Indonesia. More info.

Amount raised: Undisclosed series B round
Investors: Amand Ventures
