Japan’s prime minister Fumio Kishida announced that the country will be expanding its investments in non-fungible tokens and metaverse tech, Forkast reported.
In a policy speech delivered on Monday, Kishida also said that Japan will be looking further into digital transformation and expanding the use of Web3 services, marking the nascent industry as a pillar for economic reform.
This is in line with Kishida’s pro-Web3 agenda, which recently led to rekindled interest from crypto major Binance.
Under Kishida’s administration, Japan has taken various steps toward digital transformation and Web3 integration, including setting up a Web3 policy promotion office to serve the country’s blockchain firms.
