Following its high-profile merger with DoctorPage, Singapore doctor booking platform DocDoc has made its next move: Hire Juergen Specht, the former CTO of Rakuten Shashinkan, the e-commerce giant’s photo sharing service.
Juergen, who has served technology lead roles at many startups and companies across Japan, Singapore, and Germany, is replacing John Sharp as CTO of the healthcare startup.
The new hire will develop a scalable platform for the company as it expands beyond Singapore and South Korea into three more countries by the end of 2013.
Outside of his work, Juergen is an avid photographer who has combined his passions to create several web apps and services revolving around his hobby.
DocDoc is backed by Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist Dave McClure, former DBS Chairman Koh Boon Hwee, Singapore-based early stage investor Jungle Ventures, and Rebate Networks founder Michael Brehm.
