Okay, so maybe it’s not that big a deal, but Namco Bandai has announced that as of April 1, 2014, it will officially change its name to Bandai Namco. The company has been known as Bandai Namco for some time in Japan, but has decided that its 31 subsidiaries should follow suit.
These subsidiaries include 6 domestic and 25 international ones spread out across the globe. Namco Bandai Games Korea will soon be Bandai Namco Games Korea, Namco Bandai Games Taiwan will soon be Bandai Namco Games Taiwan, and so on. The reason for the name change is simply to increase the appeal and value to its name. I’m not sure how changing your name will raise appeal or value, but I do see it becoming the cause for momentary confusion for many.
