Indonesian fishery firm nets $3.5m from BRI Ventures, Accel, others

FishLog, an Indonesia-based fishery startup, has raised US$3.5 million in a pre-series A funding round from BRI Ventures, Accel, and Insignia Ventures Partners, among others.

Tech in Asia first reported about the development in August.

The startup was founded in 2020 by three graduates of the Bogor Institute of Agriculture: Bayu Anggara, Abdul Halim, and Reza Fahlepi.

FishLog runs a B2B marketplace that connects the stakeholders of the nation’s cold chain network of fisheries, including cold storage warehouses, fisherfolk, and buyers. On top of that, it also provides inventory handling, financing, and cold storage digitization services.

The firm plans to use the fresh funding to develop more products and operating models, as well as provide loans for stakeholders in the fishery sector.

FishLog currently has more than 200 employees and wants to use the new capital to recruit more staff. It has also established a learning program called FishLog Academy to prepare people for the fishery industry by teaching them about management, quality control, and cold storage operations.
