First Mover Advantage Government Scheme

We frequently receive questions from readers asking for information on certain topics and for help etc.. While I have always replied to them via email, we have decided that it might be better if we were to also publish them as it be of use to more people.

This time, I got a message from a Mr. RB regarding litter bins in Singapore – he wants to replace our current litter bins with new ones with advertising panels, thereby opening up another platform for new business opportunities:

“I am a Singaporean based in the UK and have got a new business which would require the assistance of the government.

Firstly, this business is to do with replacing the existing litter bins Singapore currently has. The litter bins i am introducing have got advertising panels, and make use of a technology which allow the panels to illuminate the advertising when it gets dark. There are several other advantages of these new litter bins.

I have the license to replicate this dustbin in Singapore”

Second, there is a special scheme that primarily aids companies who wish to make a business out of public assets like state land and infrastructure. Some ideas that have made use of the First Mover Advantage scheme include (1) End-to-end concierge and hospitality service (2) A centre devoted to building sandcastles at East Coast Park; and (3) An environmental hub at Pulau Ubin.

While I cannot promise you that your idea will be considered “innovative” enough, it’s a worth a shot.
