GoTo launches food delivery service on Tokopedia

GoTo Group, the merged entity of Indonesian tech firms Gojek and Tokopedia, has launched online food delivery service GoFood on the Tokopedia app as the joint entity aims to gain synergies from integrations.

Currently, the service is available in the Greater Jakarta area, where users can also make payments using the GoPay e-wallet.

The rollout of this service will allow users to search for food options on Tokopedia, while GoFood merchants can reach a wider audience.

“The launch of GoFood on Tokopedia supports our strategy to realize synergies across GoTo’s ecosystem, expanding access to goods and services for the benefit of consumers, driver-partners, and merchants across our platforms,” said Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, GoTo group director and head of food and Indonesia sales and operations.

Since the merger of the two companies, which was announced in May 2021, the group has seen a 37% increase in users transacting on both apps, according to GoTo’s president Patrick Cao.

A recent Morgan Stanley report also noted that GoTo, along with Sea Group’s SeaMoney, have overtaken Grab in Southeast Asia’s fintech space in 2021.
