Final Fantasy Tactics creator Yasumi Matsuno is teaming up with Playdek to work on a new strategy RPG, called Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians. The game looks to be an epic tale that will take you to the world of Rasfalia during its 77-year-long war. The game will be split into episodes that focus on specific heroes and stages of the war.
Unsung Story looks beautiful and with the creative backing of Yasumi Matsuno, and the music being composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto, it seems to be one promising strategy RPG. Both Sakimoto and Matsuno are known for their work on Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII and I for one am excited to see them working together again on Unsung Story.
However, making a game this big is not cheap, and Playdek has taken to Kickstarter to get a bit of help. They are asking for $600,000 to make this new title for the PC, Mac, and Windows tablets, but the more money is raised, the more potential there is for other platforms too.
The Kickstarter page says that if it raises $1.8 million a Vita version will be made. If it can make it to $2.8 million we will see Unsung Story on the 3DS. Now, if the Kickstarter does extraordinarily well and raises $3.2 million, the game will include an in-game map creator.
Playdek also promises different gifts for those who pledge money to the project. You can pledge from $3-$10,000 and gifts range from a digital badge to drinks with the creators. Personally, I’m considering the $50 pledge, which would get me a digital copy of the game, a poster, a strategy guide, and a download of the soundtrack. With Hitoshi Sakimoto behind the music, I have every expectation that this pledge will be totally worth it.
