Facebookviet is a blog which authors on Facebook related content in Vietnamese. The blog adopted the look-and-feel of Facebook and covers content such as “most popular cars on Facebook”, “Mark Zuckerberg” and “Facebook facts”. More than 3,800 people on Facebook ‘liked’ the blog.
Okay, here are my personal thoughts: I’m surprised by the blog’s enthusiasm over Facebook as the social network only has 1.4 million users in Vietnam. To put it blatantly, Facebook isn’t very popular in Vietnam. Zing Me, a local social network, is twice as huge as Facebook in terms of users.
It’s an interesting observation, though. Facebook has grown so huge that it is becoming the world’s de facto social network. It is only a matter of time before Facebook conquers Vietnam and local blogs like Facebookviet are the secret heroes that help Facebook popularize in Asia. The existence of Facebookviet.com shows the vision of the creator that Facebook could one day be the lead social network in Vietnam. If that happens Facebookviet would rise with the Facebook trend and ads dollar would follow suit.
Unfortunately, I can’t seem to contact the blog owner for an interview. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section too.
