According to Experian Hitwise, ‘Facebook’ is the most searched term in 2009, beating MySpace (2nd this year), which was top in 2008.
Interestingly, 5 out of the top 10 most searched terms are social site related – another piece of evidence that signifies the popularity of social media. It also serves as a caution to people who have taken social media lightly in 2009.
If you have not realized, Facebook jumped from the #10 spot in 2008 to top the 2009 list. Facebook is definitely growing stronger with time and who knows? It might be able to overtake Yahoo and Google in terms of web traffic sometime next year.
